HG2 History:
Heaven’s Gate II (HG2) is in an area of the world located approximately 104 miles WSW of the original Heaven’s Gate (HG1) forest area. It was settled by loggers after the HG1 forest was completely harvested. Having to overcome the difficulties of traveling between the land masses was accomplished by various methods … by constructing narrow strips of land over deep lakes, slightly raised sections of fill-dirt and cleared paths through forested areas. It wasn’t meant to be pretty…it was created for a more fitting utility use. There is a lot of lumber remaining, but the loggers know that sooner or later the forests will become depleted and they will have to replant and move on to more fertile grounds (…possibly HG3 ?).

From the Author:
Heaven’s Gate II v2.0 is a total update of the original HG2 v1.0 map. It is a fresh, custom designed map for those of you who like driving logging rigs across fairly rough and hazardess terrains.
If you have the original HG2 v1.0 map files on your system, please delete their .dds & .stg files from your “Media\levels” folder (…or at least move them to a TEMP folder).
The use of “SPINTIRES_PLUS” (Oovee.com) is highly recommended and possibly necessary for use on this map…especially the option for doubling the length of the winch cable.
I have learned to do mud decently, which is included. HG2 v2.0 will be a test of your abilities as a truck driver, especially with loads of lumber on-board. You may want to have at least one “Rescue Truck” ready for use. You may need it. Plus, there are now multiple Cloakings. It’s a bit of a challenge to do so, but it’s possible to uncloak the entire map using the A-469. I know this because I’ve done it myself.
All of the lumber objectives are “multi-connected”…meaning you can reach their access roads by using different routes each time you play the map. Dirt Paths do not show up well on the mini-map, so keep a sharp eye out for them…they come in handy for shortcuts. Also included are a few “tree-free” paths you can use. Using the “red-arrow” direction markers will really help on this map.
There are numerous “Log Kiosks” for the PRO’s out there and a single, standard-use “Auto-Load Lumber Yard” is centered on the map for players not yet familiar with or prefer not to use the game’s crane operation. The fueling areas are placed in accessible locations around the map for your use when needed. A few locked trucks are also located at various spots.
Have fun driving on this map. It was enjoyable to redo the original map and don’t forget to at least leave a short message here on this board on telling me what you thought of it – pro or con…I don’t mind.

Jun 22, 2016 9:39 pmHein,
You had me wondering for awhile there! I’ve heard some gamers are editing maps by somehow recreating the .xml file and changing different things. This is why I replied like I did.
Did you get through the whole map okay? It can be a challenge if you don’t watch your driving. I hope you enjoyed it!!!
