Getting together a group of mates is a really fun way of playing Spintires: MudRunner. Inconveniently, making custom maps and mods function well can sometimes be a challenge and requires some basic Spintires knowledge. This article aims to simplify the process of starting a successful modded MudRunner lobby.
Step 1 – First time setup:
To decrease issues during multiplayer I highly recommend you download this fix (http://spintires.nl/local-host-spintires-editor-4gb-ram-increase/). By installing this fix to your Spintires: MudRunner media folder the game is tricked into thinking that it can use 4gb of ram instead the 2gb limit. This 2gb limit is a problem because adding multiple vehicles is more taxing on the memory. Another item worth installing is Spintires Mod (http://spintires.nl/spintires-mudrunner-mod-new-spintires-plus-mudrunner/) it allows you to see lights in multiplayer plus some other really useful features.
Step 2 – Downloading Maps:
You definitely want to download a few maps for multiplayer as the stock maps are rather bland. If you are unsure of how to go about installing maps here is another post to check out (http://spintires.nl/installing-mudrunner-maps/). We recommend downloading maps from this site as each one is handpicked and tested to make sure they are of good quality and are safe to download.
Step 3 – Coordinating Vehicle Downloads:
Make clear to everyone in your lobby that you are going to be choosing trucks. Allow each person to select the truck they want to use then go to the workshop and download.
Step 4 – Select the host:
You will want to choose the person most central to host your game. This will help with ping times and also the stability of the game.
Step 5 – Game settings:
Select Multiplayer from game menu, deselect play with certified mods only, then select create friends only lobby, select map/trucks and Invite your friends to game.
Step 6 – Start Multiplayer Game!
And if you managed to follow these steps you should be on your way to a great Multiplayer session!
