Today we are going to look at one of the basics of spin tires. adding maps. This question comes up a lot so today I hope to make a guide that somewhat simplifies the process for you. Before anything I would have a map handy so you can install it. If you need a map go to this link http://spintires.nl/category/maps/ and download one.
Firstly – Open Steam and navigate to Library –> Games –> Spin tires
2nd Step – Right click on Spintires in the my games list, a menu box should appear. Click on Properties (on the very bottom)
3rd Step – After you have clicked on properties a pop out window will appear by default it will be on General instead navigate to LOCAL FILES –> select BROWSE LOCAL FILES (this will bring you to your Spin tires root folder)
4th Step – Welcome to your Spin tires root folder! You will now select the unzipped Media folder. Make sure not to select the Media.zip folder! While you are at it might be a good idea to create a desktop shortcut so next time you can skip steps 1 to 4.
(Don’t worry if you don’t see the same amount of files as mine)
5th Step – Now you have clicked on the Media folder go in and delete everything but the existing levels folder. By doing this you will remove the start-up video when you launch Spin tires (also will help with start-up times). It should look like this:
6th Step– Open up the map file you downloaded and drag contents to the Spin tires media folder.
7th Step – Make sure your folder looks something like this
8th Step – Open Spin tires and play map
Congratulations you have now installed a map! If you have any problems feel free to comment and we might be able to help.
